My name is Hunter Dawson and I am a guitarist in Destin, Florida. In the last 13 years or so, I have the privilege touring the nation with my rock-reggae band, Heritage, and playing a ton of cool venues as well as playing numerous weddings, corporate events and bars as a solo acoustic guitarist. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my love for sound and song with others as a median for emotion, release & passion.
My taste and influences span a large spectrum, so to make things a bit more clear, I will attempt to accurately describe my style. To start, I grew up on one of the outer islands in Hawaii called Kauai. I spent the first 10 years of my life listening to my dad, who was a hippie surfer, strum laid-back slack-key flamenco style guitar in between our surf sessions. When i was around 11, our family moved to back to Florida (where they were from) and that’s experienced the ’80’s and rock and roll…awesome. And since I’ve surfed my whole life, I have also naturally gravitated toward styles like Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. These are styles that bring me back my roots of growing up in the islands, growing up in the ocean. So you put that all together and get a collage of a lifetime of diverse musical experiences and influences.
